Humic acids are natural organic compounds that form the foundation of soil fertility. They are complex mixtures formed during the decomposition of biological matter (humification), obtained from the most calorific sources such as leonardites — young brown coals.

Their main biologically active fractions are humic, fulvic, hymatomelanic and ulmic acids. These compounds work on many levels: they improve soil structure, increase its water retention capacity and support the uptake of micro- and macroelements by plants.

A breakthrough in the transition to sustainable, highly profitable agriculture, responding to the progressive degradation of soils caused by excessive use of synthetic chemicals. Effectiveness is based on three measurable pillars:

• Detoxification and safety: they act as powerful natural filters, binding toxins, heavy metals, pesticide residues and radionuclides into stable complexes unavailable to plants.
• A leap in efficiency: humic acids can increase crop yields from 10% up to 50%, significantly raising farm profitability.
• Reduction of operating costs: they allow optimizing and reducing the use of traditional mineral fertilizers and agricultural chemicals by up to 30%, while maintaining or increasing yields.

The optimal schedule depends on the specific crop, but we most often recommend 2 to 4 treatments per growing season to maximize effects.

Humic acids are applied using three main agrotechnical methods that can be adapted to the specifics of the crop:

• Pre-sowing application (seed and tuber dressing): seeds can be soaked in a 0.1% aqueous solution (6–12 hours depending on species) or ProtoHumiX® can be added directly to standard liquid seed dressings.
• Foliar spraying (during vegetation): the most common and cost-effective method in broad-acre farming. Standard operational dose: 1 l of product dissolved in 300–400 litres of water per 1 hectare. Can be combined in tank mixes with fertilizers, insecticides and fungicides.
• Fertigation (soil and drip irrigation): full water solubility allows precise delivery directly to the root zone. Recommended in intensive vegetable growing and orchards.

Overdosing pure ProtoHumiX® humic acids in agricultural and breeding practice is practically impossible.

• Toxicological safety: these products are highly safe substances, completely devoid of carcinogenic, embryotoxic, allergenic and anaphylactogenic properties.
• Huge margin of safety: animal studies showed the clinical poisoning dose for 50% of subjects is as high as 7.5 g per 1 kg of body weight, while the recommended dose is only 10–20 mg.
